Slice as Nice When You Share
I was playing with the Music Slice interface a bit today, specifically managing and interacting with contacts. I gotta say, it's getting to be very cool. On the right side of the page you'll see your list of contacts, and a text box that acts as a live search, so as you type your friends are narrowed down to match who you're looking for.
If you're chatting with someone, this is shown right above your list of friends. It's now easy just to drag and drop another friend into the "room" you're in with other friends, and you can all be listening to the same music.
A quick tab away gives you access to the list of songs playing now, so you can rearrange or drag in songs from your library (or from anywhere else on the site). The cool thing is, everyone else in the listening room has control too, so you can all choose some good tunes. You can have up to 5 people (including yourself) in a listening room, it'll be interesting to see the fights that break out over what song should come next.
Did I mention that some people in the listening room could be walking down the street with their mobile device, chatting and listening all the same? And how about the guy screamin' "hell yeah!" from his vehicle (livin' is a miracle), that guy's listening too. One thing I really want to do is untie people from their desktops and laptops, so this is one step in doing that.
